AS THE Manchester United and Arsenal team line-ups appeared on my TV, I remember laying on my sofa in shock and thinking, this could get very messy. I then sat in complete silence on Sunday afternoon and watched this humiliation unfold as my old team were ruthlessly exposed and slaughtered. Despite the inexperience of this Arsenal team, I hardly expected to witness the biggest embarrassment in the club's history. This was totally unacceptable. I have always been a massive admirer of Arsene Wenger and, in my eyes, the guy is still a legend for everything he has done at the club. But an 8-2 annihilation was the day everything came crashing down around the manager. The current philosophy — of only buying young players — is simply not working.
