Kolo Troure face disciplinary action for failing drug test

Carlos Tevez isn't the only former Man City captain preparing for a legal battle with the club, as it emerged that Kolo Toure is set to appear in front of an internal disciplinary panel.Toure, 30, was suspended for six months after testing positive for a banned substance, but he has maintained his innocence, revealing that the substance came from his wife's slimming pills, which he had taken without the permission of the City's medical team.
Toure, who faces a panel headed by cheif executive Brian Marwood, is determined to contest any sanction made against him for his failed drugs test in February. There are suggestions that he could be fined up to £500,000. The club may see the positive test as a breach of his professional duties, but it is understood that Toure will refer the case to the PFA, who will help him fight his corner against the club he used to lead.

Toure’s agent, Saif Rubie, told the Independent: 'Kolo is disappointed that the club have decided to take this stance and he will contest any planned action against him. However, he will continue to give his all, as always, for Roberto Mancini and the team in their quest for honours this season.'

Toure, who played against Wolves in the Carling Cup on Wednesday night, was suspended by the club immediately after testing positive, and he was eventually found guilty in May. City continued to pay Toure's wages throughout his suspension. The ex-Arsenal defender returned to action in August but has struggled to break back in to the first team, with Roberto Mancini favouring Joleon Lescott as a partner to new skipper Vincent Kompany.
